Great Lakes Hospital for Animals Weight Loss Challenge
According to recent studies 57% of our pets are overweight or obese. Pudgy pooches and fleshy felines may be cute but they are at risk for many medical conditions and tend to have a lower life expectancy. We know that healthy weights equal healthy pets.

To help battle obesity, the staff at Great Lakes Hospital for Animals is sponsoring a free weight loss program that will run from December 15, 2009 to April 15, 2010. All pets that have had a physical exam within the past year are eligible to join.

At your pet’s first weight check appointment, our staff will help you to determine your pet’s ideal weight. We will then explain the different weight loss options available to you and your pet. These options include diet and exercise, prescription foods and exercise, or Slentrol (weight-loss medication.) and exercise. Once you decide on an option we will provide you with the necessary tools and support to help your pet reach his/her ideal weight.

Part of the program includes monthly weigh-ins and diet counseling. When you come for your pet’s weigh-in this will qualify you for a monthly drawing to help keep up the motivation as we continue to strive for healthier pets!

For clients who sign-up for this free service we have an extra incentive. The pet that loses the largest percentage of weight by April 15, 2010 will win a free photo session and a 8x10 portrait of their pet’s new fit and trim body.

To enroll in the weight loss challenge and to schedule your first appointment, please call 361-0220.
